Owner/Head Coach Jeff Capizzi has been CrossFitting for five years and is passionate about empowering people to make healthy practices like exercise and proper nutrition a top priority in their lives. "I really enjoy the challenge of getting athletes to feel that ‘Ah-ha’ moment," he says. "Whether it’s getting someone to find proper body position in a hollow hold, or getting someone to feel the weightlessness of the bar during a snatch (and everything in-between), it gives me chills knowing what that person just experienced. We all have the ability to find perfection in our movements it’s just a matter of finding what makes that click for someone."
Jeff started his own fitness journey back in high school, running for leisure and throwing in the occasional set of push-ups and sit ups. "After high school, I starting weight lifting five days a week and got more interested in running sanctioned races (5ks, 10ks and half marathons)," he says. "Once I started grad school, I was looking for something new, which is where CrossFit entered my life. A friend asked me to come check out her gym, so I did and I was hooked. With all the weight lifting I was doing, getting my butt kicked by body weight movements was humbling."
Outside of the box, Jeff enjoys spending time outdoors: Hiking, biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, or simply relaxing in the fresh air. "Nature is therapy for me, so getting outside is important for my overall wellbeing."
